Does the service create space debris pollution?
Celestis spacecraft and missions are carefully designed so as not to create space debris, and cremated remains and DNA samples are never released into space. For missions launched aboard a commercially purchased launcher, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Office of Commercial Space Transportation issues a license verifying that the payload does not contribute to orbital debris. For any missions not subject to FAA approval, Celestis voluntarily follows these same strict guidelines to ensure that every mission remains environmentally responsible and prevents orbital pollution.

Are cremated remains or DNA samples released into space?
Celestis spacecraft and missions are carefully designed so as not to create space debris, and cremated remains and DNA samples are never released into space. Each Earth Orbit Service spacecraft remains permanently attached to a rocket stage or satellite until it harmlessly re-enters and is consumed by the atmosphere, while Earth Rise missions are flown and recovered. For Luna and Voyager missions, the capsules are flown as part of a spacecraft rather than being released, ensuring the flight samples remain contained throughout the journey.
